Help Us Fund the 1st Annual Hot Dog Social!
Almost Home Outreach Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
We’re working on our first Hot Dog Social, and we need some help getting this thing off the ground.
But first — this is not really about hot dogs.
Yes, we’re going to sell hot dogs.
But the bigger idea is to create PAID work opportunities for some of our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
We’ve spent a lot of time boots-on-the-ground with this community, and something has become very clear to us:
We don’t just want to hand people things.
We want to create opportunities. (And see who takes them.)
Opportunities to participate.
Opportunities to contribute.
Opportunities to earn.
Opportunities to connect with the community.
At the Hot Dog Social, we want people experiencing homelessness working right alongside us — helping set up, serving customers, working the stand, cleaning up, and making the event happen.
And here’s the important part:
THEY WILL BE PAID FOR THEIR WORK.
We’re also planning to have information and connections available for things like transportation, SNAP, healthcare enrollment, detox and rehabilitation programs, employment opportunities, and other community resources.
Maybe somebody comes for a hot dog and leaves with a resource they didn’t know existed.
Maybe somebody works beside a local business owner who remembers them when a job opens up.
Maybe somebody earns $100 that day and gets to decide for themselves what they need.
Maybe it’s simply a chance for someone who is used to being overlooked to be part of something.
That is what Almost Home is building.
So we’re setting an initial fundraising goal of $1,500 to help launch our first Hot Dog Social and begin turning this idea into something real.
$20 can fund one hour of paid work.
$100 can fund five hours of paid work.
Every dollar helps us create a day where people aren’t just being served — they’re participating, earning, connecting, and being seen for what they can contribute.
We’re starting with hot dogs.
But what we’re really trying to build is opportunity.
Donations will also help cover food, drinks, supplies, equipment, event expenses, and the resources we’ll have available that day.
And we’ll keep everyone updated right here! As donations and supplies come in, we’ll post updates on our progress, what has been donated, what we still need, and how close we are to making our first Hot Dog Social happen.

If you can donate hot dogs, buns, drinks, condiments, paper products, equipment, printing, or sponsor part of the event, please reach out. Every item donated means more of our funding can go toward creating paid opportunities and continuing this program.
